Cxapitro 1
1 Vorto de la Eternulo, kiu aperis al Joel, filo de Petuel.
The word of the LORD that came to Joel the son of Pethuel.
2 Auxskultu cxi tion, ho maljunuloj, kaj atentu, ho cxiuj
logxantoj de la lando! Cxu estis cxi tio en via tempo, aux
en la tempo de viaj patroj?
Hear this, ye old men, and give ear, all ye inhabitants of
the land. Hath this been in your days, or even in the days
of your fathers?
3 Rakontu pri tio al viaj infanoj, kaj viaj infanoj al siaj
infanoj, kaj iliaj infanoj al la sekvanta generacio.
Tell ye your children of it, and let your children tell
their children, and their children another generation.
4 Kio restis de la rauxpoj, tion mangxis la akridoj; kio
restis de la akridoj, tion mangxis la skaraboj; kaj kio
restis de la skaraboj, tion mangxis la vermoj.
That which the palmerworm hath left hath the locust eaten;
and that which the locust hath left hath the cankerworm
eaten; and that which the cankerworm hath left hath the
caterpiller eaten.
5 Vekigxu, ho ebriuloj, kaj ploru, gxemu vi, cxiuj drinkantoj,

Awake, ye drunkards, and weep; and howl, all ye drinkers of
wine, because of the new wine; for it is cut off from your
mouth.

For a nation is come up upon my land, strong, and without
number, whose teeth are the teeth of a lion, and he hath the
cheek teeth of a great lion.

figarbon, tute sensxeligis gxin kaj forjxetis; blankigxis
gxiaj brancxoj.
He hath laid my vine waste, and barked my fig tree: he hath
made it clean bare, and cast it away; the branches thereof
are made white.
8 Gxemu, kiel junulino, kiu metis sur sin sakajxon pro sia
fiancxo.
Lament like a virgin girded with sackcloth for the husband
of her youth.
9 For estas la farunoferoj kaj versxoferoj el la domo de la
Eternulo; funebras la pastroj, servistoj de la Eternulo.
The meat offering and the drink offering is cut off from the
house of the LORD; the priests, the LORD's ministers, mourn.
10 Dezertigita estas la kampo, funebras la tero; cxar
ekstermita estas la greno, elsekigxis la mosto, velkis la
olivoj.
The field is wasted, the land mourneth; for the corn is
wasted: the new wine is dried up, the oil languisheth.
11 Konsternitaj estas la plugistoj, plorgxemas la
vinberkultivistoj, pro la tritiko kaj hordeo, pro la pereo
de la rikolto sur la kampo.
Be ye ashamed, O ye husbandmen; howl, O ye vinedressers, for
the wheat and for the barley; because the harvest of the
field is perished.
12 Elsekigxis la vinberbrancxo, velkis la figarbo; la
granatarbo, la palmo, kaj la pomarbo, cxiuj arboj de la
kampo elsekigxis; malaperis gajeco cxe la homoj.
The vine is dried up, and the fig tree languisheth; the
pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree,
even all the trees of the field, are withered: because joy
is withered away from the sons of men.
13 Zonu vin kaj ploru, ho pastroj; gxemegu, ho servistoj de la
altaro; iru kaj kusxu en sakajxoj, ho servistoj de mia Dio;
cxar malaperis el la domo de via Dio la farunoferoj kaj
versxoferoj.
Gird yourselves, and lament, ye priests: howl, ye ministers
of the altar: come, lie all night in sackcloth, ye ministers
of my God: for the meat offering and the drink offering is
withholden from the house of your God.
14 Sanktigu faston, proklamu solenan kunvenon, kunvoku la
maljunulojn kaj cxiujn logxantojn de la lando en la domon de
la Eternulo, via Dio, kaj kriu al la Eternulo:
Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the
elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of
the LORD your God, and cry unto the LORD,
15 Ho ve, kia tago! Cxar proksima estas la tago de la
Eternulo; kiel katastrofo gxi venos de la Plejpotenculo.
Alas for the day! for the day of the LORD is at hand, and as
a destruction from the Almighty shall it come.
16 Antaux niaj okuloj ja malaperis la mangxajxo, el la domo de
nia Dio la gxojo kaj gajeco.
Is not the meat cut off before our eyes, yea, joy and
gladness from the house of our God?
17 Forputris la grajnoj sub siaj terbuloj, malplenigxis la
grenejoj, detruitaj estas la garbejoj, cxar la greno
difektigxis.
The seed is rotten under their clods, the garners are laid
desolate, the barns are broken down; for the corn is
withered.
18 Ho, kiel gxemas la brutoj, kiel suferas la bovaroj! cxar ili
ne havas pasxtajxon; ankaux la sxafaroj turmentigxas.
How do the beasts groan! the herds of cattle are perplexed,
because they have no pasture; yea, the flocks of sheep are
made desolate.
19 Al Vi, ho Eternulo, mi vokas; cxar fajro ekstermis la
herbejojn de la stepo, kaj flamo bruldifektis cxiujn arbojn
de la kampo.
O LORD, to thee will I cry: for the fire hath devoured the
pastures of the wilderness, and the flame hath burned all
the trees of the field.
20 Ecx la bestoj de la kampo sopiras al Vi; cxar elsekigxis la
torentoj da akvo, kaj fajro ekstermis la herbejojn de la
stepo.
The beasts of the field cry also unto thee: for the rivers
of waters are dried up, and the fire hath devoured the
pastures of the wilderness.
Cxapitro 2
1 Blovu per korno en Cion, kaj kriu alarmon sur Mia sankta
monto; ektremu cxiuj logxantoj de la lando; cxar venas la
tago de la Eternulo, gxi estas jam proksima;
Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy
mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for
the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand;
2 tago de mallumo kaj senlumeco, tago de nuboj kaj nebulo;
simile al la matena cxielrugxo disvastigxas sur la montoj
popolo grandnombra kaj forta; tia neniam ekzistis gxis nun,
kaj ankaux post gxi ne plu ekzistos tia, en iu ajn
generacio.
A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of
thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a
great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the
like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years
of many generations.
3 Antaux gxi ekstermas fajro, kaj post gxi bruligas flamo;
antaux gxi la lando estas kiel la Edena gxardeno, kaj post
gxi absoluta dezerto; kaj neniu savigxos de gxi.
A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame
burneth: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and
behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall
escape them.
4 Ili aspektas kiel cxevaloj, ili kuras kiel rajdantoj.
The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and
as horsemen, so shall they run.
5 Ili saltas sur la montoj, kiel bruantaj cxaroj, kiel krakado
de fajro, kiam gxi ekstermas pajlon, kiel popolo potenca,
pretigxinta por batalo.
Like the noise of chariots on the tops of mountains shall
they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth
the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array.
6 Popoloj tremas antaux gxi, cxiuj vizagxoj paligxas.
Before their face the people shall be much pained: all faces
shall gather blackness.
7 Kiel herooj ili kuras, kiel kuragxaj batalistoj ili grimpas
sur la muregon; cxiu iras sian vojon, ne foreraras de sia
vojo.
They shall run like mighty men; they shall climb the wall
like men of war; and they shall march every one on his ways,
and they shall not break their ranks:
8 Unu alian ne pusxas, cxiu iras en sia vico; sur la glavojn
ili sin jxetas, sed restas sendifektaj.
Neither shall one thrust another; they shall walk every one
in his path: and when they fall upon the sword, they shall
not be wounded.
9 Ili trakuras la urbon, kuras sur la muregoj, eniras en la
domojn, grimpas tra la fenestroj, kiel sxtelisto.
They shall run to and fro in the city; they shall run upon
the wall, they shall climb up upon the houses; they shall
enter in at the windows like a thief.
10 Antaux ili skuigxas la tero, tremas la cxielo; la suno kaj
la luno senlumigxas, kaj la steloj perdas sian brilon.
The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall
tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars
shall withdraw their shining:
11 Kaj la Eternulo ektondras per Sia vocxo antaux Sia armeo;
cxar Lia militistaro estas tre granda, kaj la plenumantoj de
Lia vorto estas potencaj; cxar granda kaj tre timinda estos
la tago de la Eternulo; kiu povos gxin elteni?
And the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his
camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his
word: for the day of the LORD is great and very terrible;
and who can abide it?
12 Sed ecx nun ankoraux la Eternulo diras: Returnu vin al Mi
per via tuta koro, kun fastado, plorado, kaj gxemegado;
Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with
all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with
mourning:
13 dissxiru vian koron, ne viajn vestojn, kaj returnu vin al la
Eternulo, via Dio; cxar Li estas favorkora kaj kompatema,
longepacienca kaj indulgema, kaj Li bedauxras malfelicxon.
And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto
the LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to
anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.
14 Kiu scias? eble Li denove bedauxros, eble Li restigos post
Si benon, farunoferojn kaj versxoferojn al la Eternulo, via
Dio.
Who knoweth if he will return and repent, and leave a
blessing behind him; even a meat offering and a drink
offering unto the LORD your God?
15 Blovu per korno en Cion, sanktigu faston, proklamu solenan
kunvenon.
Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn
assembly:
16 Kunvenigu la popolon, sanktigu la komunumon, invitu la
maljunulojn, kolektu la malgrandajn infanojn kaj
sucxinfanojn; fiancxo eliru el sia cxambro, kaj fiancxino el
sub sia baldakeno.
Gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the
elders, gather the children, and those that suck the
breasts: let the bridegroom go forth of his chamber, and the
bride out of her closet.
17 Inter la portiko kaj la altaro ploru la pastroj, servistoj
de la Eternulo, kaj ili diru: Indulgu, ho Eternulo, Vian
popolon, kaj ne kovru per honto Vian heredajxon, la nacioj
ne moku ilin; por kio oni diru inter la popoloj: Kie estas
ilia Dio?
Let the priests, the ministers of the LORD, weep between the
porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare thy people, O
LORD, and give not thine heritage to reproach, that the
heathen should rule over them: wherefore should they say
among the people, Where is their God?
18 Tiam la Eternulo farigxos fervora por Sia lando kaj indulgos
Sian popolon.
Then will the LORD be jealous for his land, and pity his
people.
19 Kaj la Eternulo respondos kaj diros al Sia popolo: Jen Mi
sendas al vi grenon kaj moston kaj oleon, kaj vi satigxu per
ili; kaj Mi ne plu permesos al la nacioj malhonori vin.
Yea, the LORD will answer and say unto his people, Behold, I
will send you corn, and wine, and oil, and ye shall be
satisfied therewith: and I will no more make you a reproach
among the heathen:
20 Kaj la nordulon Mi malproksimigos de vi, kaj forpelos lin en
landon senakvan kaj dezertan, lian antauxan parton al la
maro orienta, kaj lian malantauxan parton al la maro
okcidenta; kaj li putros kaj malbonodoros, cxar li faris
multe da malbono.
But I will remove far off from you the northern army, and
will drive him into a land barren and desolate, with his
face toward the east sea, and his hinder part toward the
utmost sea, and his stink shall come up, and his ill savour
shall come up, because he hath done great things.
21 Ne timu, ho tero, gxoju kaj estu gaja, cxar la Eternulo
faros ion grandan.
Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice: for the LORD will do
great things.
22 Ne timu, ho bestoj de la kampo, cxar verdigxos la pasxtejoj
de la stepoj; la arboj portos siajn fruktojn, la figarbo kaj
vinberujo donos sian ricxajxon.
Be not afraid, ye beasts of the field: for the pastures of
the wilderness do spring, for the tree beareth her fruit,
the fig tree and the vine do yield their strength.
23 Kaj vi, ho infanoj de Cion, gxoju kaj estu gajaj pri la
Eternulo, via Dio; cxar Li donos al vi instruanton pri
virteco, kaj Li sendos al vi pluvon, fruan kaj malfruan,
kiel antauxe.
Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD
your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately,
and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former
rain, and the latter rain in the first month.
24 La grenejoj plenigxos de greno, kaj la premejoj
superplenigxos de mosto kaj de oleo.
And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the vats shall
overflow with wine and oil.
25 Kaj Mi rekompencos vin pro tiuj jaroj, kiam cxion formangxis
la akridoj, skaraboj, vermoj, kaj rauxpoj, Mia granda armeo,
kiun Mi sendis sur vin.
And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath
eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the
palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.
26 Kaj vi povos mangxi sate, kaj vi gloros la nomon de la
Eternulo, via Dio, kiu agis kun vi mirinde; kaj Mia popolo
neniam plu havos malhonoron.
And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the
name of the LORD your God, that hath dealt wondrously with
you: and my people shall never be ashamed.
27 Kaj vi ekscios, ke Mi estas meze de Izrael, ke Mi, la
Eternulo, estas via Dio, kaj alia ne ekzistas; kaj Mia
popolo neniam plu havos malhonoron.
And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that
I am the LORD your God, and none else: and my people shall
never be ashamed.
28 Post tio Mi elversxos Mian spiriton sur cxiun karnon; viaj
filoj kaj viaj filinoj profetos, viaj maljunuloj havos
songxojn, viaj junuloj havos viziojn.
And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my
spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters
shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young
men shall see visions:
29 Ecx sur la sklavojn kaj sur la sklavinojn Mi en tiu tempo
elversxos Mian spiriton.
And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those
days will I pour out my spirit.
30 Kaj Mi donos miraklajn signojn en la cxielo kaj sur la tero:
sangon, fajron, kaj kolonojn da fumo.
And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth,
blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.
31 La suno farigxos malluma, kaj la luno farigxos sanga, antaux
ol venos la granda kaj timinda tago de la Eternulo.
The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into
blood, before the great and terrible day of the LORD come.
32 Kaj cxiu, kiu vokos la nomon de la Eternulo, savigxos; cxar
sur la monto Cion kaj en Jerusalem estos savo, kiel diris la
Eternulo, ankaux por la restintoj, kiujn la Eternulo
alvokos.
And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the
name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and
in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said,
and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.
Cxapitro 3
1 Cxar jen en tiuj tagoj kaj en tiu tempo, kiam Mi revenigos
la forkaptitojn de Judujo kaj de Jerusalem,
For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall
bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem,
2 Mi kolektos cxiujn naciojn kaj venigos ilin en la valon de
Jehosxafat; kaj tie Mi faros super ili jugxon pro Mia popolo
kaj Mia heredajxo Izrael, kiun ili disjxetis inter la
naciojn, dividinte Mian landon;
I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down
into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them
there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they
have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.
3 kaj pro tio, ke ili lotis pri Mia popolo, fordonis knabon
pro mangxajxo kaj knabinon vendis pro vino, kaj drinkis.
And they have cast lots for my people; and have given a boy
for an harlot, and sold a girl for wine, that they might
drink.
4 Kaj kion vi volas de Mi, ho Tiro, Cidon, kaj cxiuj
distriktoj Filisxtaj? cxu vi volas repagi al Mi? kaj se vi
volos repagi al Mi, Mi facile kaj baldaux turnos vian
repagon sur vian kapon.
Yea, and what have ye to do with me, O Tyre, and Zidon, and
all the coasts of Palestine? will ye render me a recompence?
and if ye recompense me, swiftly and speedily will I return
your recompence upon your own head;
5 Mian argxenton kaj Mian oron vi prenis, kaj Miajn plej
bonajn valorajxojn vi transportis en viajn templojn,
Because ye have taken my silver and my gold, and have
carried into your temples my goodly pleasant things:
6 kaj la filojn de Judujo kaj la filojn de Jerusalem vi vendis
al la filoj de la Grekoj, por malproksimigi ilin de iliaj
limoj;
The children also of Judah and the children of Jerusalem
have ye sold unto the Grecians, that ye might remove them
far from their border.
7 sed jen Mi vekos ilin el tiu loko, kien vi vendis ilin, kaj
vian agon Mi turnos sur vian kapon;
Behold, I will raise them out of the place whither ye have
sold them, and will return your recompence upon your own
head:
8 kaj Mi vendos viajn filojn kaj viajn filinojn en la manojn
de la Judoj, kaj cxi tiuj vendos ilin al la Sxebaanoj, al
popolo malproksima; cxar la Eternulo tion diris.
And I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hand
of the children of Judah, and they shall sell them to the
Sabeans, to a people far off: for the LORD hath spoken it.
9 Proklamu tion inter la nacioj; pretigxu al milito, veku la
kuragxulojn; cxiuj militistoj levigxu kaj eliru.
Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles; Prepare war, wake up
the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near; let them
come up:
10 Forgxu el viaj plugiloj glavojn, kaj el viaj rikoltiloj
lancojn; la malfortulo diru: Mi estas forta.
Beat your plowshares into swords and your pruninghooks into
spears: let the weak say, I am strong.
11 Rapidu kaj venu, cxiuj nacioj de cxiuj flankoj, kaj
kolektigxu; tien alkonduku, ho Eternulo, Viajn fortulojn.
Assemble yourselves, and come, all ye heathen, and gather
yourselves together round about: thither cause thy mighty
ones to come down, O LORD.
12 La popoloj levigxu kaj iru en la valon de Jehosxafat; cxar
tie Mi sidigxos, por jugxi cxiujn naciojn de cxiuj flankoj.
Let the heathen be wakened, and come up to the valley of
Jehoshaphat: for there will I sit to judge all the heathen
round about.
13 Svingu la rikoltilon, cxar la rikoltajxo estas matura; venu
malsupren, cxar la premejoj estas plenaj kaj la tinoj
troplenigxis; cxar granda estas ilia malboneco.
Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you
down; for the press is full, the fats overflow; for their
wickedness is great.
14 Amasoj post amasoj kolektigxas en la valo de la jugxo, cxar
alproksimigxas la tago de la Eternulo en la valo de la
jugxo.
Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the
day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.
15 La suno kaj la luno senlumigxos, kaj la steloj perdos sian
brilon.
The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall
withdraw their shining.
16 Kaj la Eternulo ektondros el Cion kaj auxdigos Sian vocxon
el Jerusalem; ektremos la cxielo kaj la tero; sed la
Eternulo estos rifugxejo por Sia popolo, kaj fortikajxo por
la idoj de Izrael.
The LORD also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice
from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake:
but the LORD will be the hope of his people, and the
strength of the children of Israel.
17 Kaj vi ekscios, ke Mi, la Eternulo, estas via Dio, kiu
logxas en Cion, sur Mia sankta monto; kaj Jerusalem estos
sanktejo, kaj fremduloj ne plu iros tra gxi.
So shall ye know that I am the LORD your God dwelling in
Zion, my holy mountain: then shall Jerusalem be holy, and
there shall no strangers pass through her any more.
18 En tiu tago la montoj elgutigos dolcxan sukon, el la
montetoj fluos lakto, kaj cxiuj torentoj de Judujo estos
plenaj de akvo; kaj fonto eliros el la domo de la Eternulo
kaj liveros akvon al la valo Sxitima.
And it shall come to pass in that day, that the mountains
shall drop down new wine, and the hills shall flow with
milk, and all the rivers of Judah shall flow with waters,
and a fountain shall come forth out of the house of the
LORD, and shall water the valley of Shittim.
19 Egiptujo farigxos dezerto, kaj Edom farigxos senviva
dezerto, pro tio, ke ili premis la idojn de Jehuda kaj
versxis senkulpan sangon en sia lando.
Egypt shall be a desolation, and Edom shall be a desolate
wilderness, for the violence against the children of Judah,
because they have shed innocent blood in their land.
20 Sed Judujo estos logxata eterne, kaj Jerusalem en cxiuj
generacioj.
But Judah shall dwell for ever, and Jerusalem from
generation to generation.
21 Kaj Mi vengxos pro ilia sango, kiu ne estis vengxita de Mi;
kaj la Eternulo logxados en Cion.
For I will cleanse their blood that I have not cleansed: for
the LORD dwelleth in Zion.
