Cxapitro 1
1 Pauxlo kaj Silvano kaj Timoteo al la eklezio de la
Tesalonikanoj en Dio, la Patro, kaj la Sinjoro Jesuo Kristo:
Graco al vi kaj paco.
Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the
Thessalonians which is in God the Father and in the Lord
Jesus Christ: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our
Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Ni cxiam dankas Dion pri vi cxiuj, memorigante pri vi en
niaj pregxoj;
We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of
you in our prayers;
3 memorante sencxese vian laboron de fido kaj penadon de amo
kaj paciencon de espero al nia Sinjoro Jesuo Kristo, antaux
nia Dio kaj Patro;
Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour
of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in
the sight of God and our Father;
4 sciante, fratoj, amataj de Dio, vian elekton,
Knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God.
5 cxar nia evangelio venis al vi ne nur parole, sed ankaux kun
potenco kaj kun la Sankta Spirito kaj plena certigo; vi
scias, kiaj homoj ni cxe vi montrigxis pro vi.
For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in
power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye
know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.
6 Kaj vi farigxis imitantoj de ni kaj de la Sinjoro, ricevinte
la vorton en multe da aflikto, kun gxojo de la Sankta
Spirito;
And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having
received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy
Ghost.
7 tiel, ke vi farigxis modelo por cxiuj kredantoj en
Makedonujo kaj en la Ahxaja lando.
So that ye were ensamples to all that believe in Macedonia
and Achaia.
8 Cxar de vi la vorto de la Sinjoro estas disehxita ne nur en
Makedonujo kaj la Ahxaja lando, sed en cxiu loko via fido al
Dio disvastigxis, tiel, ke ni ne bezonas diri ion.
For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in
Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to
God-ward is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak any
thing.
9 Cxar ili mem pri ni rakontas, kian alvenon ni havis cxe vi;
kaj kiel vi vin turnis al Dio for de idoloj, por servi
vivantan kaj veran Dion,
For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we
had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve
the living and true God;
10 kaj atendi Lian Filon el la cxielo, la Filon, kiun Li levis
el la mortintoj, Jesuon, kiu nin savas de la estonta
kolerego.
And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the
dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.
Cxapitro 2
1 Cxar vi mem scias, fratoj, ke nia alveno al vi ne montrigxis
senfrukta;
For yourselves, brethren, know our entrance in unto you,
that it was not in vain:
2 sed suferinte kaj insultite en Filipi, kiel vi scias, ni
kuragxigxis en nia Dio prediki al vi la evangelion de Dio
meze de granda konflikto.
But even after that we had suffered before, and were
shamefully entreated, as ye know, at Philippi, we were bold
in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God with much
contention.
3 Cxar nia instruado ne devenis de eraro, nek de malpureco,
kaj gxi ne estas kun ruzo;
For our exhortation was not of deceit, nor of uncleanness,
nor in guile:
4 sed kiel Dio nin aprobis, por konfidi al ni la evangelion,
tiel ni parolas, por placxi ne al homoj, sed al Dio, kiu
esploras niajn korojn.
But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the
gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God,
which trieth our hearts.
5 Cxar, kiel vi scias, ni neniam trovigxis kun vortoj flataj,
nek kun avideca preteksto (Dio estas atestanto),
For neither at any time used we flattering words, as ye
know, nor a cloke of covetousness; God is witness:
6 nek celante homan gloron cxe vi aux cxe iu alia, kvankam ni
povis esti al vi sxargxaj, kiel apostoloj de Kristo.
Nor of men sought we glory, neither of you, nor yet of
others, when we might have been burdensome, as the apostles
of Christ.
7 Sed ni estis mildaj inter vi, kiel vartistino, fleganta
siajn proprajn infanojn;
But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her
children:
8 tiel same ni, sentante por vi koran inklinon, volonte tiam
dividus kun vi, ne nur la evangelion de Dio, sed ankaux
niajn proprajn animojn, cxar vi farigxis por ni tre karaj.
So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to
have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also
our own souls, because ye were dear unto us.
9 Cxar vi memoras, fratoj, nian penadon kaj laboregon: nokte
kaj tage laborante, por ke ni ne farigxu sxargxo por iu el
vi, ni predikadis al vi la evangelion de Dio.
For ye remember, brethren, our labour and travail: for
labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable
unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God.
10 Vi estas atestantoj, kaj Dio ankaux, kiel sankte kaj juste
kaj senkulpe ni kondutis cxe vi kredantoj;
Ye are witnesses, and God also, how holily and justly and
unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe:
11 kiel vi scias, ke por cxiu el vi ni estis kiel patro cxe
siaj infanoj, vin admonante kaj kuragxigante, kaj petegante,
As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every
one of you, as a father doth his children,
12 ke vi iradu inde je Dio, kiu vin vokas en Sian regnon kaj
gloron.
That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto
his kingdom and glory.
13 Pro cxi tio ankaux ni sencxese dankas Dion, ke ricevinte per
nia parolo la vorton de Dio, vi akceptis ne la homan vorton,
sed, kiel gxi vere estas, la Dian vorton, kiu ankaux
energias en vi, kiuj kredas.
For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because,
when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye
received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth,
the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that
believe.
14 Cxar vi, fratoj, farigxis imitantoj de la eklezioj de Dio en
Kristo Jesuo, kiuj estas en Judujo; cxar tiajn samajn
suferojn vi ankaux spertis cxe viaj samlandanoj, kiajn tiuj
cxe la Judoj,
For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God
which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have
suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they
have of the Jews:
15 kiuj mortigis la Sinjoron Jesuo kaj la profetojn, kaj nin
elpelis, kaj ne placxas al Dio, kaj estas kontrauxuloj al
cxiuj homoj;
Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and
have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are
contrary to all men:
16 ili malhelpis al ni prediki al la nacianoj, por ke ili

Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be
saved, to fill up their sins alway: for the wrath is come
upon them to the uttermost.

kore, des pli fervore klopodis vidi vian vizagxon kun multa
sopiro;
But we, brethren, being taken from you for a short time in
presence, not in heart, endeavoured the more abundantly to
see your face with great desire.
18 cxar ni deziris veni al vi; mi, Pauxlo, tion deziris pli ol
unufoje; sed malhelpis nin Satano.
Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul, once and
again; but Satan hindered us.
19 Cxar kio estas nia espero, aux gxojo, aux krono de
singratulado? Cxu gxi ja ne estas vi, antaux nia Sinjoro
Jesuo Kristo cxe lia alveno?
For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not
even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his
coming?
20 Cxar vi estas nia gloro kaj nia gxojo.
For ye are our glory and joy.
Cxapitro 3
1 Kiam do ni jam ne povis resti trankvilaj, ni decidis esti
lasitaj solaj en Ateno;
Wherefore when we could no longer forbear, we thought it
good to be left at Athens alone;
2 kaj ni sendis Timoteon, nian fraton kaj servanton de Dio en
la evangelio de Kristo, por firmigi vin kaj konsoli vin pri
via fido,
And sent Timotheus, our brother, and minister of God, and
our fellowlabourer in the gospel of Christ, to establish
you, and to comfort you concerning your faith:
3 por ke neniu estu sxancelita de tiuj afliktoj; cxar vi mem
scias, ke ili apartenas al nia sorto.
That no man should be moved by these afflictions: for
yourselves know that we are appointed thereunto.
4 Cxar kiam ni estis cxe vi, ni antauxdiris al vi, ke ni nepre
suferos; kaj tio efektive okazis, kiel vi ja scias.
For verily, when we were with you, we told you before that
we should suffer tribulation; even as it came to pass, and
ye know.
5 Pro tio mi ankaux, kiam mi jam ne povis resti trankvila,
sendis, por ke mi certigxu pri via fido, pro timo, ke eble
la tentanto vin tentis kaj ke nia laboro farigxos senutila.
For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to
know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted
you, and our labour be in vain.
6 Sed kiam Timoteo, jxus veninte al ni de vi, donis al ni
bonajn sciigojn pri via fido kaj via amo, kaj ke vi cxiam
memoras nin bonkore, sopirante vidi nin, kiel ni ankaux vin,
But now when Timotheus came from you unto us, and brought us
good tidings of your faith and charity, and that ye have
good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us,
as we also to see you:
7 pro tio ni konsoligxis, fratoj, pri vi, en cxia nia malgxojo
kaj aflikto, per via fido;
Therefore, brethren, we were comforted over you in all our
affliction and distress by your faith:
8 cxar nun ni vivas, se vi staras firme en la Sinjoro.
For now we live, if ye stand fast in the Lord.
9 Cxar kian dankon ni povas repagi al Dio pri vi, pro la tuta
gxojo, per kiu ni gxojas pro vi antaux Dio;
For what thanks can we render to God again for you, for all
the joy wherewith we joy for your sakes before our God;
10 nokte kaj tage pregxante fervore, ke ni povu vidi vian
vizagxon kaj perfektigi la mankojn de via fido?
Night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your
face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith?
11 Nia Dio kaj Patro mem kaj nia Sinjoro Jesuo direktu nian
vojon al vi;
Now God himself and our Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ,
direct our way unto you.
12 kaj la Sinjoro pligrandigu kaj abundigu cxe vi la amon de
unu al la alia kaj al cxiuj, kiel ni amas vin;
And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one
toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward
you:
13 por ke li faru viajn korojn senkulpaj kaj sanktaj antaux nia
Dio kaj Patro, cxe la alveno de nia Sinjoro Jesuo kun cxiuj
liaj sanktuloj.
To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in
holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our
Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.
Cxapitro 4
1 Fine do, fratoj, ni petegas kaj admonas vin en la Sinjoro
Jesuo, ke kiamaniere vi lernis de ni, kiel vi devus iradi
kaj placxi al Dio (kaj vi ja tiel iradas), tiamaniere vi pli
kaj pli abunde agu.
Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by
the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought
to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.
2 Cxar vi scias, kian admonon ni donis al vi en la Sinjoro
Jesuo.
For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.
3 Cxar jen estas la volo de Dio, via sanktigxo, ke vi vin
detenu de malcxasteco;
For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that
ye should abstain from fornication:
4 ke cxiu el vi sciu preni al si sian propran ajxon en
sankteco kaj honoro,
That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel
in sanctification and honour;
5 ne en la pasio de volupto, kiel la nacianoj, kiuj ne konas
Dion;
Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which
know not God:
6 ke neniu peku kaj trompu sian fraton en cxi tio; cxar la
Eternulo estas vengxanto en cxio tio, kiel ankaux ni
antauxavertis vin kaj atestis.
That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter:
because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also
have forewarned you and testified.
7 Cxar Dio nin vokis ne por malpureco, sed por sanktigxo.
For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto
holiness.
8 Tiu do, kiu malakceptas, malakceptas ne homon, sed Dion, kiu
donas al vi Sian Sanktan Spiriton.
He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who
hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.
9 Sed pri amo al la frataro, vi ne bezonas, ke oni skribu al
vi, cxar vi mem estas instruitaj de Dio ami unu la alian;
But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto
you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one
another.
10 cxar vi ja tion faras al cxiuj fratoj, kiuj estas en la tuta
Makedonujo. Sed ni admonas vin, fratoj, ke vi amu pli kaj
pli abunde,
And indeed ye do it toward all the brethren which are in all
Macedonia: but we beseech you, brethren, that ye increase
more and more;
11 kaj ke vi celu esti kvietaj, kaj fari viajn proprajn
aferojn, kaj labori per viaj manoj, gxuste kiel ni al vi
ordonis;
And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business,
and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;
12 por ke vi iradu konvene antaux tiuj, kiuj estas ekstere, kaj
por ke nenio al vi manku.
That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and
that ye may have lack of nothing.
13 Sed ni ne volas, fratoj, ke vi ne sciu pri tiuj, kiuj
endormigxis; por ke vi ne malgxoju, kiel la ceteraj, kiuj
havas nenian esperon.
But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren,
concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even
as others which have no hope.
14 Cxar se ni kredas, ke Jesuo mortis kaj relevigxis, tiel
ankaux tiujn, kiuj endormigxis en Jesuo, Dio venigos kun li.
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so
them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15 Cxar ni diras al vi per la vorto de la Sinjoro, ke ni, kiuj
estos vivaj, restantaj gxis la alveno de la Sinjoro, tute ne
havos lokon antaux la endormigxintoj.
For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we
which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall
not prevent them which are asleep.
16 Cxar la Sinjoro mem malsupreniros de la cxielo, kun
signalkrio, kun la vocxo de la cxefangxelo, kaj kun la
trumpeto de Dio; kaj la mortintoj en Kristo levigxos la
unuaj;
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout,
with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God:
and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 poste ni, kiuj vivas, ankoraux restantaj, estos kune kun ili
suprenkaptitaj en la nubojn, por renkonti la Sinjoron en la
aero; kaj tiel ni estos por cxiam kun la Sinjoro.
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up
together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the
air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18 Tial per tiuj vortoj konsolu unu la alian.
Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
Cxapitro 5
1 Sed pri la tempoj kaj okazoj, fratoj, vi ne bezonas, ke oni
skribu al vi.
But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need
that I write unto you.
2 Cxar vi mem tute bone scias, ke la tago de la Sinjoro venas,
kiel sxtelisto en la nokto.
For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so
cometh as a thief in the night.
3 Dum oni diras: Paco kaj sendangxereco, tiam subita detruo
venas sur ilin, kiel naskodoloro al gravedulino, kaj ili
tute ne forsavigxos.
For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden
destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with
child; and they shall not escape.
4 Sed vi, fratoj, ne estas en mallumo tiel, ke tiu tago vin
trafus kiel sxtelisto;
But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should
overtake you as a thief.
5 cxar vi cxiuj estas filoj de lumo kaj filoj de la tago; ni
ne estas el la nokto, nek el mallumo;
Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the
day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
6 tial ni ne dormu, kiel la ceteraj, sed ni viglu kaj estu
sobraj.
Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch
and be sober.
7 Cxar kiuj dormas, tiuj dormas en la nokto; kaj kiuj
ebriigxas, tiuj ebriigxas en la nokto.
For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be
drunken are drunken in the night.
8 Sed cxar ni estas el la tago, ni estu sobraj, surmetante la
kirason de fido kaj amo, kaj, kiel kaskon, la esperon de
savo.
But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the
breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope
of salvation.
9 Cxar Dio nin destinis ne al kolero, sed al la ricevo de
savado per nia Sinjoro Jesuo Kristo,
For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain
salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
10 kiu mortis por ni, por ke ni vivu kune kun li, cxu ni
maldormos aux dormos.
Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should
live together with him.
11 Tial admonu vin reciproke kaj edifu unu la alian, kiel
ankaux vi jam faradas.
Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one
another, even as also ye do.
12 Sed ni petegas vin, fratoj, koni tiujn, kiuj laboras cxe vi
kaj estras cxe vi en la Sinjoro kaj vin admonas,
And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour
among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
13 kaj estimi ilin treege kun amo pro ilia laboro. Estu
pacemaj unu kun la alia.
And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's
sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
14 Kaj ni petas vin, fratoj, admonu la senordulojn, kuragxigu
la nebravulojn, subtenu la malfortulojn, estu paciencaj
kontraux cxiuj.
Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly,
comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient
toward all men.
15 Zorgu, ke neniu redonu al iu malbonon por malbono; sed cxiam
sekvu tion, kio estas bona, unu por alia kaj por cxiuj.
See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever
follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all
men.
16 Gxoju cxiam;
Rejoice evermore.
17 pregxu sencxese;
Pray without ceasing.
18 pri cxio donu dankon; cxar tia estas la volo de Dio en
Kristo Jesuo pri vi.
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in
Christ Jesus concerning you.
19 Ne estingu la Spiriton;
Quench not the Spirit.
20 ne malestimu profetajxojn;
Despise not prophesyings.
21 elprovu cxion; tenu firme tion, kio estas bona;
Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
22 detenu vin de cxia formo de malbono.
Abstain from all appearance of evil.
23 Kaj la Dio de paco vin sanktigu tute; kaj via spirito kaj
animo kaj korpo estu plene konservitaj sen kulpo, cxe la
alveno de nia Sinjoro Jesuo Kristo.
And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray
God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved
blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Fidela estas Tiu, kiu vin vokas, kiu ankaux faros.
Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
25 Fratoj, pregxu por ni.
Brethren, pray for us.
26 Salutu cxiujn fratojn per sankta kiso.
Greet all the brethren with an holy kiss.
27 Mi solene petegas vin per la Sinjoro, ke oni legu cxi tiun
epistolon antaux la tuta frataro.
I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all
the holy brethren.
28 La graco de nia Sinjoro Jesuo Kristo estu kun vi.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
